SharePoint consultancy in Portugal: intranets, documents and migration

AvantIT is a Microsoft Partner headquartered in Matosinhos (Porto) that implements SharePoint Online for companies across Portugal: intranets, document management with metadata and retention, migration from file servers, Google Drive or on-premises SharePoint, permissions and governance, SPFx development and Teams integration.

What a SharePoint consultancy does

A SharePoint consultancy designs how a company stores, finds and shares information in Microsoft 365, and makes it work: the structure of sites and libraries, metadata, permissions, the intranet, migrating the documents that live somewhere else today, and the governance rules that stop it all sliding back into folder chaos.

At AvantIT we cover the whole path — discovery, architecture, implementation, migration, training and support — on standard SharePoint Online, inside your own tenant. For intranets we can start from one of 22 industry templates, with a live demo before you decide; when the company needs something of its own, we build it with SPFx.

Template, custom build or migration?

Three starting points with different timelines. Many companies combine them: they start from a template and add custom development in a second phase.

Intranet from a templateCustom intranetMigration to SharePoint Online
Timeline First version in about a week; 2 to 4 weeks with migration 6 to 12 weeks Depends on volume and source; the timeline comes out of the initial inventory
Starting point One of 22 industry templates, with a live demo Discovery with your teams and a design of your own File server, Google Drive or SharePoint Server 2013/2016/2019
Best for Internal communication and document management without a long project ERP or in-house app integrations and specific requirements Leaving file servers and on-premises versions behind and organising what exists
Complex integrations In a second phase, on the same foundation Included in the project Old customisations reviewed and rebuilt where they are still needed

In every case the price is fixed and agreed after a short discovery, before work begins.

22 industry intranet templates, with live demos

Healthcare, construction, legal, manufacturing, banking, insurance, public sector, sports clubs and more: each template is standard SharePoint Online, designed for one sector, and you can explore it in the gallery before you decide. With the SharePoint Intranet in Days offer, the first version is live in about a week, with branding, permissions, first content, editor training and basic governance.

It designs and implements how a company stores, finds and shares information in Microsoft 365: the intranet, document management with metadata, permissions, document migration, approval workflows and governance. AvantIT covers the whole path, from discovery to support after launch.
It depends on the starting point (template or custom), the number of sites, the volume to migrate and the integrations. The price is fixed and agreed after a short discovery, before work begins. SharePoint Online is usually included in the most common Microsoft 365 Business and Enterprise plans, so there are often no extra licences.
From one of our industry templates, the first version is live in about a week; with content migration, 2 to 4 weeks. A custom intranet, with its own design and integrations, typically takes 6 to 12 weeks.
Yes. We migrate from file servers, Google Drive and SharePoint Server 2013, 2016 and 2019. We start with an inventory of what exists, clean up what is no longer used, redesign the structure with metadata and group-based permissions, and migrate in phases, validating each area.
SharePoint Server 2013 and 2016 have both reached the end of Microsoft extended support, so they no longer receive security fixes. Moving to SharePoint Online is also the moment to review old workflows, InfoPath forms and customisations that do not move to the cloud as they are.
We work across Portugal. Our headquarters is in Porto (Spaces, Matosinhos). In Lisbon, the Algarve and other cities we have no office of our own: kick-off meetings, workshops and training take place at Spaces and Regus centres in the IWG network or at your premises, and the rest of the work happens remotely.
Yes, with SharePoint Framework (SPFx) and React, the model Microsoft supports: web parts, extensions and integrations with ERP, CRM or other APIs through Microsoft Graph. The code runs in the user’s context and respects SharePoint permissions.
Google Drive is a good way to store and share files; SharePoint is a document management platform, with sites, libraries, metadata, group-based permissions, versioning, retention and approvals. For companies already on Microsoft 365 that need structure and compliance, SharePoint is usually the choice. We compare the two in detail in our article.
Copilot sees everything the user has access to, so excessive permissions and old sharing links become a risk. Before switching on Copilot or AI agents we review permissions and sharing, organise content and confirm what must stay protected. The Copilot Readiness Assessment does that work in 2 to 3 weeks.
With governance defined from the start: who can create sites, external sharing policies, naming rules, metadata instead of deep folders, and group-based permissions. To audit permissions and find broken links over time, AvantIT is an Approved Reseller of SharePoint Essentials Toolkit.
